We continue to challenge in court the irresponsible and unlawful decision to build a motorway through the unique Kresna Gorge. To support this legal fight and our work, we have launched a fundraising campaign to gather the necessary funds.
On June 11th, 2024 the Bulgarian Ministry of Environment and Waters started construction through the Kresna gorge following the 2017 approved plan for one lane of the motorway through the gorge. European funds for this option were refused in 2019.
Currently, there are three ongoing lawsuits to ensure compliance with environmental legislation and to push for a new environmental assessment. The next court hearing is scheduled for March 25, 2025, and we urgently need funds to support legal activities.

Our target is to raise 5,000 euros (or 10,000 BGN) by end of the year. However, the Ministry of Environment and Waters through external lawyers would be claiming a minimum of 15,000 euros for the legal complaints we have been making. This excludes all other expenditures we have. Please note, 1 EUR = (close to) 2 BGN, so 5,000 EUR = 10,000 BGN)
